Epidemiology and Economics

· Osteoarthritis (OA): By the age of 65 years, >90% of the population have at least one joint with OA. With
increasing age, more joints develop OA. However, early stages of OA may be free of pain.
· The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis is ~1%.
· The incidence of gout is ~1%.
